OK, at £250 then.
Smart Parts SP1 - £50-£150, depending on upgrades. One of the best value for money/performance tactical markers you can buy. The new equivalent is the GoG G1, which can still be had new for £200.
Smart Parts Ion/Vibe - £60-£120. Again bargains for what you're getting. The new equivalents are the GoG eNvy/eXTCy
Etek1/2/3 - £100-£250. Excellent markers, robust and Planet Eclipse service is great. Usually a PE tent at many games.
Vanguard Creed - £180-£250. Absolute bargains for what you are getting, a £700 marker, with a couple of different full bore sized barrels and lengths. The best OLED board out in my opinion, MOJO OLED, the same as in the Angel AR:K
Do you have loader and bottle?

I can recommend a Creed, never owned one, but i have been shot by one many times, so they can't be bad! Look nice and shiny too! Although they do have a reputation for being a little unreliable, but it's usually only an O-ring split or something easy to fix. If it were me I would keep an eye out for Eclipse Ego's going on the forums. I bought my SL74 for £200 (absolute bargain saw one going for £400 the other day! ) and it is fantastic, and I prefer it to some of the newer markers I've shot. I often see Ego 08's going for £200+ on the forums and they're great markers. Or there's often Ego 09's going for around £300. I'd do that if it were me personally! All personal preference though!

Something like this would be fantastic, and there's little room to upgrade from this: p8ntballer-forums.com/threads/fs-ego-09-sly-bottle-and-rotor.150755/Like I said before though, get yourself to some events first, try to come to Time Wars. It's the last ever Super 6, and it'll be a proper experience for you! Hundreds of players on each team, major firefights etc, get to know the team cause you'll be camping out. Great fun.

Having had a play around on the Sunday I did like the look of the BT Delta elite and heavier style guns much more than the tournament ones which I found just too light. I like the realistic looking ones if im honest I think I may go for the phenom as I think thats something that keeps appealing to me.

Phenom is a good choice if it's the 'realistic'/tactical look you like.
Just consider that at a large event you could be carrying that marker around for hours, rather than 10-15 minute short games like at a walk-on. That's when you can glad you have a nice light marker.
Also, a tourney marker is as at home in the woods, in urban, on a remote island in the Adriatic, or on a sup-air field. You wouldn't want to be on a sup-air field with a Phenom.
As a new player I totally understand your preference for the more military looking marker; we've all been through that stage. You'll start by adding stuff like sights, laser etc, all stuff that makes it heavier. Stage 2 will be stripping all the extra weight back off. Stage 3 will be selling it and buying a tournament marker! ;-)
Well, that's generally how it goes, not everyone is exactly the same.

I have to admit that I don't like the standard phenom look. The 9mm mag style just doesn't look right. Add a 5.56 mag conversion and it looks so much better. For the best look then some Magpul bits are e dangles, MOE shroud, fore grip and stock.
One great thing about the Phenom's Flex Valve (also in the Crossover) is that it can operate in Semi-Auto mode even without a battery.
You also won't need to get a seperate loader as it comes with the Cyclone as standard. If you can find one for £250 then you'd only need a bottle and remote line to go with it. :-)
I would still say to consider an SP1/G1 though as you'd get one cheaper and it's still a tactical marker. Not so much in the way of customisation but tbh you don't need to customise. Get a Rotor to go with it and you'd be able to swap that to any future marker.

Have you set the dwell for HPA use? If you leave it at default settings, for Co2, then the dwell is higher and it won't be as efficient on air as it could be.

I saw a Tippmann A5 with flatline barrel for £40 on the p8ntballer forums. I almost bought it even though I have an A5. That's a bargain.. I would do that if I were you Mephestic. It's a great starter gun, the flatline barrels go second hand for £30 alone. So when/if you want to upgrade in future you can probably sell for more than you bought it

Hey guys,
I ended up getting a phenom which arrived. Looks nice, its second hand from the p8ntballer forums - its the one I posted about previously; after some research I opted to go for that as it seemed like my type of gun as I like the idea of customising it all.
I havnt tried it yet as I dont have a full air cannister but look forward to trying it on our meet on the 14th, hopefully they can do a refil at the site?

I will be bringing my X7 custom along also, so you can see what I've done and maybe get some ideas from it.

yeah theve full air rig onsite air wont be a problem, thou we'll have to crono markers down to about 210-220fps as can end up being a foot or 2 from eachother sometimes and surrender isnt an option ha ha
