Hey Guys,
I am just hung up on this and not sure which marker to get.
I have got some combat trousers specifically for paintball, a Vest too now, Air cannister, some gloves and pods.
The big question is on which marker to go for that offers value for money, can be potentially used in tournaments and fun to use also?
My mind is leaning towards a Phenom Egrip as my first maker - what are peoples views on this? I like how it can be customized with upgrades and how it looks quite appealing this way due to the cool factor to make it look like assault rifles etc.
But on the other hand it seems serious players appear to go for the tournament style markers? (Eclipse, EGo etc?)
I assume they are better? Im just not sure what to look at really?
Could people give me their opinions?
Im hoping maybe when we meet on 7th october I can take a look at some of your markers and get some advice on the pro's/cons of them too?
Some of your opinions would be great!

Right Meph lots of answers to give on that, as different people have different thoughts. I will try to give an unbiased view thou.
Phenom first. Pros - Looks great from new and even better after customising to your own liking. Looks like whatever you want it to Feels more like a real weapon as you get a (slight) recoil Egrip gives you multiple firing modes Cons - Weigh's lot more than a tourny style Uses more air per shot to move the next ball into play
Tourny style Pros - Leightweight and smaller Use lot less air from bottle per shot as are also battery powered. Cons - Look like a toy, and nothing like a real gun. Update are more for speed than looks
There are a lot more reasons than this to choose one or the other, but when you get to try all of ours, you will then decide bud.

I started out with the BT-4 Combat made it into a AK47 loved it then added a tib8 side arm tac vest and played that way for a year but the set up slowed me down no end but its not like I run that much I'm a big lad.
Then got my hands on a top end marker NT11 as it was cheap and thought I'll give it a go and if I didn't like it then I could always sell it on BUT 1st time playing with it that same day sold me Tib8 and now have a Relfex as back up Empire Trracer pump to use in limited games and have never looked back at my BT-4 now my youngest is using it now It's all on the player how they like to play my oldest boy has a omega full of extras and weights a ton but hates my reflex as it's to small and light for him and also he likes looking like rambo lol good luck on finding a marker that is what you want not what others think you should have

It's all personal preference mate. I was speaking with a couple of guys at Staargate though, both bought Phenoms as a first marker, both are now shooting Ego's. Both said they had nothing but problems with it :S I recommend a tourney marker though. Much more fun, no recoil, easier to shoot at people, more settings and fire modes. If you want something that you can make look like a real gun, take a look at the eclipse etha

Go to the walk on first mate and have a play around with some people's guns and make an informed choice. There's Phenoms for sale at that price all the time on the forums mate so no rush

Mate, I generally turn up with most of my markers. Tippmanns 98 custom and X7 with response trigger amongst others. Your more than welcome to try mine before you even think of buying.
Also others have Tippmanns as well including Hand666, who has a Tippmann A5. I am sure he will let you fire that also.
Add to that all the other peoples markers, and you will get a better idea of what you want to go for.
This game is expensive enough without laying out cash on a marker you might not like.

When i started i managed to pick up a 2nd hand X7(Mechanical) for just under £90. which lasted me 2 games then i changed as was getting supressed by faster firing markers. I have since tried a number of different markers including (MacDev Tac Drone, Vanguard Creed, Vanguard Demon, Eclipse Etek 3........) the list goes on. As i said in a previous post, get yourself along to some events and have a feel and try before you buy. The community as a whole are very welcoming and most people are more than happy to show off their toys. Make sure you find a marker that suits your style of play

well my budget is about £250 ish I would say give or take for a good long term marker.
I imagine it will need to be second hand if I am to get a decent one at that price.
