Hi guys.
Forum is up and running. I will fiddle with it later and get the colours better etc, but for now the basics are here.
Cheers!

Since you're already incurring some considerable costs, for stuff like the web site and forum, I'd suggest you put it to everyone to agree a standard monthly subs to cover team costs.
In the long term it will be a lot easier and prevent any issues with people feeling aggrieved if they have put more towards things than someone else etc.

This is something I have thought about but we have not yet discussed.
For now we have only discussed the yearly fee for the website, and at the moment that is our only running cost.
I assume that sooner or later we will need to set up a subs system. What does everyone else think about this?

Nath, just as aside, you have your own domain yes? What control do you have over that and how is it pointing at the web site service you sue?
The reason I ask is because you *may* want to consider the forum stuff before you go too far.
phpBB is free and the same as what we use ourselves, UK Scenario uses and many other forums.
Obviously forum content is something that you could never get back if, and when, you decided you wanted something you have more ownership/control over than a free forum service.

The website has been set up using 1and1.co.uk, which has the ultimate ease of use, but unfortunately does not give you much control over the hosting.
Basically, as far as I am aware, and I haven't really looked into it, but I would have to get separate hosting in order to host a forum on this domain - hence the free one.
It is a shame, though this forum does seem to be pretty good for a free one.
I think actually I will send a message to their tech support and get them to clarify this in more detail.
Cheers.

I was correct. We would need additional hosting to have our own forum. Nothing wrong with this one though as far as I can tell. It's not the best looking but it's doing everything we need it to do.
